A Monroe County Circuit Court jury has awarded Linda Lochridge of Aberdeen $350,000 in damages against a former employer.

The jury handed down a verdict of damages against Pioneer Health Services of Monroe County, the management company that runs the Aberdeen-Monroe County Hospital.

Lochridge was employed by Pioneer as director of the Garden Suites Assisted Living Center in Aberdeen, according to the case file.

In 2007, Pioneer laid off Lochridge in what management described as a “purely financial decision.” For a long time, Lochridge had used her personal funds to purchase items for use at the center. After she was laid off, Lochridge returned to the center to retrieve some of those items, according to the case file.

Pioneer pressed charges. Lochridge was indicted for burglary, despite her ability to produce receipts for all the items she had retrieved.

In response, Lochridge filed a lawsuit for malicious prosecution.

She was represented by Jim Waide and Rachel Pierce Waide of Waide & Associates of Tupelo.

Pioneer was represented by J. Tucker Mitchell of Mitchell Day Law Firm of Ridgeland.

The three-day trial was held in Aberdeen.
